The Pool-Mate uses accelerometers to measure the movement of the wrist during the swim stroke. Advanced digital signal processing techniques and software algorithms have been developed by engineers to pick out the stroke and lap information for the recognized swimming strokes.  It works with freestyle, back stroke, butterfly and breaststroke in all pool sizes over 15 meeter or yeards.
Pool-Mate does more than just count laps. It displays and stores Session Time, Average Strokes per lap, Speed, Distance, Calories and Efficiency. It also records the same data for each individual set so you can see the changes that happen during a swim session, and you can time your rest periods between sets.  All data is stored for review during or after a swim session (up to 400 logs can be stored).
The Pool-Mate can also be used to time your running, cucling, openwater swims or different legs of a triathlon. It includes a 12 or 24 hour format, an alarm and a backlight.
Stroke counting to improve efficiency has been stressed by many coaches and studies, the Pool-Mate provides feedback through a unique swimming efficiency index.  Monitor this to see how you improve over time.
